Young William

William Wilson
was born on August 27, 1978 in San Diego, California. Though encouraged
by both parents, much of his musical passion can be credited to
the Argentine ancestry of his mother. From age six to ten he studied
piano. In 1987, nine-year-old William began classical guitar study
with local artist Peter Pupping, who remained his primary teacher
and promoter for the next eight years.
In 1994 William
performed his first solo recital, for which he was honored with
an award from the North County Concert Association. The following
year marked his first recording appearance as a guest artist on
Peter Pupping's Gloria. While still in high school, William achieved
First Place in the Rancho Bernardo Master Chorale Competition.
Guitar studies with Pupping were supplemented with master classes
by guitarists such as Anisa Angorola and L.A. Guitar Quartet's
Scott Tennant.
