William was selected to play
for world-renowned classical guitarist Christopher Parkening at
a master class in Los Angeles, California in May 2002. He remains
honored to have received instruction from Mr. Parkening, the most
celebrated student of 20th century guitar legend Andres Segovia.
William attended SDSU from 1996-2001
where he studied with guitarist Fred Benedetti for five years.
There he performed with SDSU's New Music Ensemble, the Collegium
Musicum, and the Guitar Ensemble. Under the direction of Dr. David
Ward-Steinman, he composed Teresa Benedicta, an opera scene performed
by SDSU Opera Theater as well as Hosea 2:16 a symphonic movement
performed by the SDSU symphony.
In the fall of 2000, William performed
a senior recital of challenging and eclectic guitar works to great
acclaim.
He graduated summa cum laude from SDSU with a
Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance and was selected Outstanding
Student of the Year from the graduating class of 2001.
